FESTIVALS
FESTIVALS
The whole town looked fully decorated
Every road, every corner with colour lights
All the shops too decorated with flowers
Vendors filled all the road busily selling
As he walked, he shook his head in wonder
Why so many days of festivals in this country?
Why people are so happy to celebrate?
Enjoy spending, much money everywhere?
He saw, a mother dressed in a torn saree
Trying to sell piled flowers on the roadside
Her toddler with a packet of biscuits laughed
Another child sat, enjoying licking Ice cream
As he looked at those poor children’s smile
Their happiness in enjoying a new taste
Maybe, their first time on such rare days
A few coins mother earned, got them this joy
Understood he now, it is not just to show off
So many festivals, our country celebrates often
It is in this way, we spread our love and care,
Few days, but on those nights, no child sleeps hungry
