Fate

Like the first rays of the morning sun,

He caresses her with his tenderness,

The morning chill resembles the feel,

That envelopes her, every time his voice she perceives,

Oh!! How she hates,

Those creases on his forehead,

That appear each time, 

when about her he worries and frets.

Immeasurable is the joy,

That in him she derives,

Time spent messing around with him,

Constitute the best days of her life.

Miles away yet so close,

This bond is a mystery unsolved,

None knew when it grew so strong,

Like music it blended, perfectly with their souls.

Alas, poor creatures,

A jealous life waited to swallow them whole,

With malice she wandered,

Plotting to sever what they held so close.

Terrible is their fate,

Love and Friendship adamant not to change,

Tossing and turning in a messed up game,

Each views the other in a different way.

"I love you", one said.

" But to me you're just a friend ".

" Bravo", shouted life,

"Now grow apart, wander and succumb to denial".

Sadly Love and friendship, long to be together so often,

But how to make it work, they wonder,

When one's presence somehow hurts the other.

Unknown is the future,

Life ruthlessly pulls the strings,

Both wonder which ache to bear,

- the one in holding on, or the one in parting forever.
