   Her hair was thin and limp

   Her skin a pale sickly yellow

   Her eyes dark and empty

   Her nose red and wet

   Her lips dry and cracked

   Her voice is quiet and full of shyness


 Now

   Her hair is soft and shines in the sun

   Her skin is clear and healthy

   Her dark eyes gleam with laughter

   Her nose is speckled with freckles

   Her lips are full and pink

   Her voice is still quiet but now filled with happiness and confidence
