Dreams and Friends: Then and Now

Dreams and Friends: Then and Now

1 min 154 1 min 154

The purveyor of dreams

Yes, Him, sold many to me.

When I ran to those

With both hands,

None—for repeat I must—

None I found were free.

Between then and now

A lot has changed. And how!

Hope, what it’s worth,

Lies in the future tense.

Hope, the word itself,

But makes the future tensed.

We race against people,

Against ourselves, and the time.

Life, as it turns out,

Has become a sort of race.

Whatever we choose,

Countless hurdles we must face.

As we race ahead,

In time, we gain something,

We might as well lose a lot.

Sometimes, relationships take

A back seat, so to say.

We become what we’re not.

Only a few of those

Countless friends we once had,

Sieve through the test of time.

We learn to preserve

Those handful few priceless.

Together we remain, together we chime.
