Dance of the Rain

Dance of the Rain

The rain did a dance yesterday at night,

A pitter-patter routine; a splash and splatter.

It sieved through the lush foliage of the trees

And fell rhythmically down, spinning its magic.

I sat and listened to the orchestral sounds.

Yes! God conducted a magnificent concert.

Nature sang to the accompaniment of the rain.

The elements shed their inhibition & joined in.

The drops fell ubiquitously all around outside.

They fell on the car roof with a metallic clang.

They fell on the road tar with a gentle thud.

They beat a steady tattoo on my bedroom window.

The crickets sang in sync to the rain's tempo.

The wind accompanied with its howls & swoosh’s.

It pattered down on the window sill, dancing,

As if to the song the Earth played, it impinged.

Then something changed and it bore down in fury.

It battered the trees, turned the mud to slush.

It thrummed on the roof, drummed on the window.

It pummelled the rose bush, tore into it before abating.

I watched mesmerized from my window,

Seemed like nature was nearing its finale!

The time had come to take a bow, no encore.

The dance was ending, the concert was over.
