Bruises
Bruises
Purple bruises
Why do you hide them so much?
I know something's happening at home
Yesterday I saw you on a crutch.
You were limping down the stairs
Smiling like everything was fine
But then why did I hear you cry,p
Last night somewhere around nine
And why was there a voice yelling
And dishes clinking against each other?
Does your family know about the abuse?
Have you told your mother?
You deserve someone better
Not someone who hits you behind a closed door
Not someone who makes you feel ugly
Worthless, stupid and so much more.
You can't hide the bruises, you know
I can see them, and so can everyone else
They peek out from beneath your clothes
Except you, we all can hear the warning bells
Purple bruises, you don't deserve them
You deserve a life full of sunshine
You deserve to smile while going to bed
And not having to curl up and cry at nine.
