Blanket Of White

The sun is rising

How strange

Strange indeed

For all I see

Is the darkness of my room.

Blinds, closed

Eyes, closed

Life and soul?

Closed.

My steps on the stairs

Echo throughout

The empty house

Lonely house

Abandoned house

It’s all the same.

The days have flown by

Fly

Wings?

Perhaps I’ll have some one day.

Step

Step

Creak

The door opens.

I’m blinded by the shine.

By the light.

The snow glitters

The sun shines

The world’s light

Has shown through

This time of darkness.

My tears

Crystal rain falling

Dripping

Flowing

From shimmering clouds

Cloudy eyes,

The tears soak the snow

As I sit on the steps.

Eyes closed.

Door closed.

But life and soul?

Open. 

Because even in my darkest hour

I can lay in my blanket of white.

My blanket of light.
