Because I Was Someone Else
Because I Was Someone Else
Because I was born in silk,
I was well versed in the thought,
that fire monsters dare not reach out to me!
But when life rained on me,
I bloomed like a meadow,
even though I was crushed within.
Because I was raised like a tree,
home to some; music to others.
Nature was enamored of me,
I wasn’t afraid of anything
before mankind caught up to me.
Because I was loved like a butterfly,
Favored with beauty,
used to the serenity
of beholding the clouds grow faint to become a crystal blue sky,
I never knew that was the only week I’d survive
Because I’d never before cried out loud,
yet holding on to the silence,
I always thought I’d have a few shoulders
and a handful of chances
Because the reality struck me like a lightening,
I don’t think I’ll ever be the same rainbow lining
as I was younger, grinning to the flickering sunbeams,
falling down, yet rising…
