Beautiful Dream
Beautiful Dream
With the first breath of the little one, his death was born
A conspiracy like no other
Life and death were partners in the greatest con!
As the little one took his steps, the death smirked at him
The little boy walked, sprinted, and as life happened
Unaware that the reaper was eagerly strolling towards him was grim!
All those lives the boy touched with his tender hands
All those people who were impacted by his sheer presence
Not realizing the sedately advancing imprints in the sand.
Days passed by, and so did years
The man was growing among success, experience, and failures
He lost sometimes and sometimes won over his fears
He built a home with the love of his life
Unknown emotions possessed him a tiny finger grabbed his hand
Hearing the screams of the young one, he smiled at his wife
Living an ordinary life, in an extraordinary manner, the boy grew older
As the muscles were replaced by freckles, by the fire his family gathered
And as the flicker extinguished, one last time he looked over his shoulder
He saw his reflection smiling at him, ready to take him away
As the death finally greeted him and smirked at the fragile man
Smiling with pure ecstasy, he told the death to lead the way
The death bore a wicked grin and asked him about his illusion of being alive
How can one be contended by such petty lies?
The man remained silent as on the doorsteps they arrived.
Death told the man to climb the staircase
As all the memories flashed before his eyes
He walked ahead with dignity and grace
The death saw the same visuals, after all, he was part of the old man
As he saw the red eyes and noses and grins
The wise old man’s view he could understand
Although the final game was of death, it was he who had been played
The man lived life in such a manner that everyone remembered him with a smile
He was going to live forever, in those hearts, who for his peace had prayed
As the death guided him towards the mammoth door
The man glared one last time to see what he was living behind
“What a beautiful dream it was being alive and so much more.”
