Baba Nanak or Peer Nanak

You came when the world was in a state of oblivion,

Everyone was fighting among them on Religion,

You dictated for benevolence,

Practice and preached tolerance,

You preferred as profitable deeds,

To feed and clothe the one who needs,

There is no Hindu and No Muslim,

Every moment sing His hymns,

You said instead of searching Him in forest and boulder,

Lead the life of honest householder,

Agonised with Mankind’s agony

Taking Mardana & Bala you began your journey,

In Sri Lanka people called you Nannakacharya,

Nanak Kadamdar in Russia,

Nanak Lama in Tibet, Peer in Baghdad,

Guru Rimpochia in Sikkim and Bhutan,

You are the zephyr in the hailstorm of plight,

O Nanak! I wish if I could see you through my sight.
