An Ode to Parents

For all the times when words felt insufficient, 

To the thank yous that felt inherent,

For all the times my inhibitions took over,

To the distances that brought you closer,

For the times I felt not right

To harsh words, I let loose in spite

I declare today as the time, I pause,

To put behind my fear and flaws 

And thank you both with roaring applause.

Thank you, mom and dad, for all these years,

Your love, guidance, and support wiping my tears,

Your presence and phone calls bringing me cheers

You both are my biggest treasure, my prized souvenirs!
