A Lullaby
A Lullaby
As you sleep,
My heart leaps
Down deep,
Love you in heaps.
Life is a rough road
Be strong to carry payloads
Never mind the goads
For now, rest in my arms - your pod
Bend to the gods
Not to any lords
But remember to nod
For you'll be spared the rod
Know the norms
Ignore the worms
Come into your own form
Live life on your terms
When will you grow
Wrinkles line my brow
My feet a little slow
My breath a rasping blow
Time so long
For you to grow strong
Till then I'll come along
Whispering a life song
Sleep a while more
With a soft snore
Save your innocent core
Till it's time to come to the fore.
