A Life I Dream
A Life I Dream
I too deserve what you enjoy unfettered -
A free will to pursue my heart's druthers.
I was born a human first like everyone;
Gender and the distinctions, I dug into it later.
Seeking the fulness, I choose my life,
But never one founded on ideologies.
Manliness, they foisted on me;
It was a massive robe that never befitted me.
When nubile, I was to submit to their choice.
But my heart yearned for something different.
The suffocation of identity I endured for years
And a masculine physique I put on for others.
I yearned to set the lass I had disguised free
And shed the manly skin I was born with.
I long to die, to be my true self
And to resurrect to live the rest content.
I designed my future, becoming the real me.
The wonders of science eased my course.
It took me struggles to shape myself
And bear the gender I never disclosed to their gaze.
Today, I am living the life of my dreams,
Sharing the sole life with one like me.
Protesting storms erupted but were short-lived;
And we have begun to dream together.
