A Day's Adventure

A Day's Adventure

It was just another ordinary day

I looked o'er the windowsill in dismay

I sighed and winced, deep in thought,

What changes has this season brought?

I blinked once, I blinked twice

I shook my head, couldn't believe my eyes

I saw something I could never imagine

Yet there it was, a real, red dragon!

I looked him in the eye

He was beckoning me towards him

I wasn't scared, I don't know why

In my mind, I named him Jim.

I restrained myself,

Not once, not twice

But I leaped onto his back

After pondering over it thrice.

His nostrils flared

He breathed fire

He flapped his wings

And soared higher and higher!

I screamed as we first

Flew through the clouds

But then I looked down and saw

The puny little crowd!

The sight was baffling

Sensational, mind-boggling

The Burj Khalifa now

Looked as tall as a sapling!

I whispered in his ear

He obeyed my command

Together we roamed

The whole world 'round!

Soaring above mountains

Gliding over seas

Hovering over the pyramids

And then touring Greece!

We gifted the Statue of Liberty

A pair of sunglasses

She smiled at me, and softly said

She looks the best of all lasses!

We met an airplane

On the way

The pilots and passengers

Couldn't lower their gaze!

The sun turned into

A hue of different colours

Yellow, orange, pink, red

It sure looked marvelous!

We flew back home

I was still in a daze

This day had sure

Left me amazed!

Like a gentleman

He dropped me back home

But I asked him not

To go back so soon.

I nuzzled against him lovingly

He purred in return

Then he alighted and flew

Towards the setting sun.

Now I'm back in my room

Looking over the windowsill

I'm awaiting his return

To this very day, still.
