A CRUEL RACE !

A CRUEL RACE !

2 mins

On a bustling Monday morn, as I traveled on the busy street,

I saw people all around, each with their hurried beat.

Some rushed to work, others rushed for their pay,

Children on buses, sandwiches in hand, ready for school day.

The drivers raced, heading towards the school's gate,

Taxis hurried to workplaces, not a moment to wait.

Well-dressed men styled their hair with care,

Women applied makeup, looking lovely and fair.

At traffic lights, cars halted, but not for long,

No time to wait, no thought for those who belong.

Amidst this commotion, a little boy caught my eye,

Crawling on the road, with no fear, so spry.

He knew not the dangers, nor the rush of the crowd,

All he wished was to move forward, curious and proud.

As a student, rushing to college in comfort's embrace,

My driver sped past, leaving the boy in that space.

My heart sank, guilt washed over me in waves,

Yearning to turn back, to see if the boy was safe.

Yet guilt held me captive, though no fault was mine,

Pity for the child alone, abandoned, left to pine.

I wanted to ask, to know if he was alright,

But chances slipped away, consumed by my plight.

Perhaps the guilt of living in this selfish race,

Overwhelmed my emotions, as I kept up the pace.

Oh, how cruel have we become, I ponder with a sigh,

In a world where self-centeredness seems to fly.

Let us revive compassion, let kindness be our guide,

Embrace the forgotten, heal wounds, and cast aside.

In life's whirlwind, let's pause and extend a hand,

Helping those in need, spreading love across the land.

For in acts of kindness, we rediscover our grace,

And restore the humanity lost in this frantic chase.
