A Beautiful Encounter

A Beautiful Encounter

Another weekend,

He rose early,

Some pending bills, a pile of laundry awaited him so dearly,

All that done, now his hunger pangs were on a murderous mode,

He thought sarcastically what a bliss to be single, if a wife was present she would feed him for free.

He opened the refrigerator, two slices of bread smiled back at him and the drawers were empty, oh what a sight to see.

He made his hot black coffee and dipped those cold pieces into them.

To avoid the evening madness he decided to go shopping early,

Got into his crumpled tee and jeans which hadn’t been washed for a while,

But then the perfume was his saviour and his best friend that he could bank on anytime.

He drove turning on the radio while listening to his favorite Rj,

Music was an escape to his otherwise hectic and dull life anyday.

He entered the supermarket and was soon surrounded by the reds, oranges and greens of the edible family,

He grabbed some essentials and headed to the counter which was mandatory,

And there she was, a lady with exquisite eyes that stole his heart in seconds.

She weighed his veggies and he stood there like a man struck by lightning or a beautiful awakening,

Her cheeks were red like plums, her skin as smooth as porcelain, her hair well braided and her lips as curvy as plains,

She was gorgeous unlike the ladies who dripped in makeup that he witnessed in corporate setups.

He was smitten, he hovered around buying heaps of food just to get close to her and intentionally leaving a bag or two,

Only to hear her calling out, ‘sir, your bag’, to which he smiled, ‘oh thanks’.

He didn’t want to leave a beautiful sight but then one last time he craved to see her smile,

He walked upto her with a bag for a last tete – a- tete and said those last words, ‘have a nice day’,

She looked up and smiled, ‘Thank you, you too sir’.

Since then, he’s lost himself in her..
