Dr.Biswas Malik was a young scientist living in New Delhi. He was only 35 but had made quite a reputation as a genius in the field of medical research. He had successfully developed a drug to fight depression. He had tested it on Mahesh, a depression patient, and his close friend. It was completely different from other anti-depressant drugs. This drug had no side effects at all. It completely removed stress and anxiety. Biswas had used natural herbs that stimulated the levels of endorphin, serotonin, and dopamine within the required limits. As a result, Mahesh overcame his depression, and his personality changed for good. He became an optimist who never gave up after failures. His positive attitude towards life did wonders for him. He got a promotion in his job with a pay raise. He never looked back in his life after taking this wonder drug.

Biswas advised him to reduce the intake of the pills gradually and stop it after a certain period. Buoyed by the success of his first antidepressant pill, he launched it into the market after the approval of CDSCO ( Central Drug Standard Control Organization). His product was a great success and brought him fame and wealth.

Biswas' wife Komal was a Senior Executive in a private firm whereas his only daughter Shivani was in 4th grade of Model School. He lived in Connaught Place.

Biswas worked for nearly thirteen hours per day at his private lab. After the antidepressant drug, he wanted to develop a super special memory pill. Biswas was intrigued by the theory of reincarnation. He was keen to learn about his previous birth.

One day he discussed his project with Komal.

She was skeptical about the outcome of his dream project. She laughed at him and said, " Don't be a fool. Reincarnation sounds good only in movies and fantasy stories. Don't waste your time in a worthless project. Why don't you try working on weight loss pills or something which is practical?"

Biswas lost his temper. He shouted at her, " How can you decide the outcome of my research? I have successfully developed a new and much-improved antidepressant pill with no side effect at all. I am sure that I would be successful in this project too." He left his food untouched and stomped off to his room. Komal wanted to apologize to him for her offensive remarks. She had not intended to hurt him. She had merely voiced her opinion.

She knocked at his study room where he was furiously writing something in his diary. Biswas looked at her disdainfully. " What do you want?" he thundered, " I am busy right now. Don't disturb me while I am working."

She apologized so earnestly that Biswas had to forgive her. The couple loved each other very dearly. They often had heated arguments but ended up saying sorry to each other.

Biswas worked very hard. He did extensive research on the functioning of the human brain. He took detailed notes from the scientific websites and went through numerous scientific journals.

He completed his research and the initial framework for carrying out his experiment. It took him six months to finish his project.

He decided to test the pill on himself. He had already created a handful of pills and stored it in an airtight container.

He swallowed a pill with a glass of water. He had a strange sensation inside his head. It was neither a headache nor any giddiness. He felt as if someone was squeezing his brain. The feeling subsided gradually. He decided to have a cup of coffee. He locked his lab and went to a nearby cafe where he ordered a strong cappuccino. As he was slowly sipping his coffee, he got the same sensation inside his head again. He tried to relax by closing his eyes for a moment. Suddenly, the vague memories of the past played before his eyes.

He remembered all his commitments towards his family. He had promised Komal and Shivani that he would take them out for dinner on the following week.

He was like an absent-minded professor. He always forgot to fulfill his commitment. Komal had to keep reminding him about his promise.

He finished the coffee and paid the bill.

He came home quite early and took his family out for dinner. They had a great time together.

Biswas woke up quite early in the morning. He remembered that he had to pay the school picnic fees.

The single memory pill did wonders for him. He was able to remember everything that had taken place during the past month. He decided to take two pills a day instead of one until his memory took him to his previous birth.

He had another idea that would make his project even more thrilling. He called his best friend Sriram who was also a scientist. He remembered the time when both of them thought of coming up with a unique idea. They wanted to see whether they could visualize each other's dreams and thoughts. Biswas had helped him in inventing thoughts and dreams visualizer. Sriram had connected this machine with his laptop and projector. He had asked Biswas to sit on the chair with a helmet on his head. This helmet had several wires connected to the visualizer machine. The experiment started after they finished setting up the initial framework.

Biswas saw himself buying an expensive diamond necklace for Komal. Sriram gave a sly smile. He said, "Have you already bought the necklace or is it just your dream?"

Biswas replied, "I want to buy her a diamond necklace. However, I keep forgetting things. Would you believe that I even forgot my daughter's birthday?" Sriram added, "You don't have to worry about your forgetfulness. I will keep reminding you from time to time."

It was Sriram's turn to try the machine. Biswas watched Sriram holidaying in Hawaii and surrounded by girls in skimpy outfits. Biswas made fun of him. He said, "I am going to tell Ananya Bhabhi that you want to go to Hawaii without her. She will make mincemeat out of you with her rolling pin." The two friends roared with laughter.

Biswas came out of his nostalgia. He called Sriram and briefed him about his latest invention. Sriram sounded very excited. He said, "Why don't you also ask my wife Dr. Ananya to join us? She is an excellent psychiatrist and an expert in hypnotism. She would help you to go back into your past life.

Both of us will watch your story come alive on the screen. I have a suggestion for you. Please come over to my house for your experiment."

Biswas agreed to his proposal. He replied, "It will take me nearly a month as I am yet to consume sufficient pills."

They agreed to meet each other after a month.

Meanwhile, Biswas started consuming two memory pills per day. He was looking forward to discovering his previous birth.
