Buffalo Thought!

Confronted with anger and rage,

The buffalo went to the court of God,

Filled with divine grace and bliss,

God gave him a hearty welcome!

What makes you come here?

Asked god with a smile,

Mischievous but with genuine love,

The buffalo shot back crossly, don’t you know?

God, smiled graciously for he knew why, still being kind

Urged the buffalo to speak his mind!

Spoke God, worry not, fuss not, tell me,

Now your wish granted be!

On earth we get ill treated,

The cow gets its respect,

It’s not fair for populace,

To worship cows and despise us!

God chuckled, so be it ,

Get the respect you deserve,

But your prestige you should preserve,

Never, ever sleep in the muddy pond for sure!

The buffalo was glad,

At God’s boon but was baffled,

At the condition laid,

Went on its way, unwilling to change!

The buffalo hesitant of sacrificing its comfort,

Was willing to quit its dream of respect!

It did also dawn upon him,

The dream was not worth the peace at present!

God smiled brilliantly and said, “All lives are equal in my realm,

Fret not why am I not like the rest?

For each have a different purpose,

Serve it to your best!”
