The Silent Side of Love ❤️

The Silent Side of Love ❤️

Riya was an ordinary college girl with simple dreams and a quiet nature. She loved books, rainy evenings, soft music, and writing small poems in the last pages of her notebook. In class, she rarely talked to anyone unless necessary. Most students thought she was shy, but actually, she just felt more comfortable inside her own little world.

Every morning, she entered the classroom before everyone else and chose the same seat near the window. From there, she could see the college garden, the falling leaves, and sometimes the cloudy sky. But the real reason she sat there was different.

From that seat, she could clearly see Aarav.

Aarav was completely opposite to her. He was cheerful, confident, and friendly with everyone. The moment he entered the classroom, the entire atmosphere changed. His laughter was loud, his smile was warm, and somehow he made even boring lectures feel less tiring.

Riya never understood when her feelings for him started.

Maybe it was the day Aarav helped a junior student who had dropped all her books in the corridor.
Maybe it was when he shared his umbrella with a friend during heavy rain.
Or maybe it was simply because he was kind to everyone without expecting anything back.

At first, Riya thought it was just admiration. But slowly, Aarav became part of her daily life without even knowing it.

She started noticing everything about him.

The way he pushed his hair back while studying.
The way he tapped his pen on the desk when thinking.
The way he smiled after answering a difficult question correctly.

Even small things related to him became special for her.

If Aarav was absent, her entire day felt incomplete.
If he smiled once at her, she secretly stayed happy for hours.

But Riya never had the courage to tell him anything.

She was afraid.

Afraid that he would laugh.
Afraid that things would become awkward.
And most of all, afraid that she would lose the small happiness she already had — watching him from a distance.

So, she loved him silently.

One afternoon, the teacher announced a group project. By coincidence, Riya and Aarav ended up in the same team.

For the first time, she had a real reason to talk to him.

“Hi, Riya,” Aarav said casually, sitting beside her in the library. “Can you handle the presentation part? Your notes are always perfect.”

Riya looked at him for a second before lowering her eyes.

“Y-yes,” she replied softly.

From that day, they started talking more because of the project. Not deeply. Not emotionally. Just normal conversations.

But for Riya, those small moments meant everything.

When Aarav said, “Good morning,” her day became beautiful.
When he thanked her for helping, she smiled secretly the whole night.

Sometimes, while working together, Aarav would tell funny stories, and Riya would laugh quietly. Aarav once noticed it and said,

“You should smile more often. You look nice when you smile.”

That single sentence stayed in her heart forever.

Days passed, and Riya’s feelings became stronger.

At night, she imagined impossible conversations.
She imagined Aarav confessing his feelings.
She imagined walking with him under rainy skies.
She imagined becoming important in his life.

But reality was different.

Aarav treated her kindly, but only as a friend.

One evening after class, Riya went to the canteen to buy tea. As she walked closer, she suddenly stopped.

Aarav was there.

And beside him stood a girl named Kavya from another department.

They were laughing together. Aarav looked happier than usual. After a few seconds, Kavya held his hand naturally, and Aarav didn’t let go.

Riya felt her heartbeat slow down.

For a moment, the noise around her disappeared.

She quietly turned back before they noticed her.

That night was painful.

She sat near her room window while rain fell outside. Her phone screen was open, showing Aarav’s profile picture. She wanted to message him something… anything.

But what could she say?

“You are the reason my heart hurts?”
“I loved you silently for months?”
“You became important to me without even trying?”

None of those words felt right.

So she simply closed her phone and cried silently.

The next day, she went to college as usual. She tried acting normal, but deep inside, something had changed.

A few days later, during farewell practice, Aarav came toward her with his usual smile.

“Riya, can you click our picture?” he asked.

She nodded quietly.

Aarav stood beside Kavya, smiling brightly. Everyone gathered together while Riya held the camera.

“Ready?” she asked softly.

“Yeah!” everyone shouted.

Click.

The picture captured a happy moment.

But behind the camera, someone’s heart quietly broke.

After the function ended, Aarav walked beside Riya for a short distance.

“You’re a really good friend, you know that?” he said.

Friend.

That single word hurt more than anything else.

Still, Riya smiled gently.

“Thanks,” she replied.

That night, she opened her diary and wrote:

> “Sometimes we love people silently, not because we are weak, but because our feelings are too pure to force onto someone.
Some stories are never meant to become relationships.
Some people simply teach us how deeply a heart can feel.”

Months later, Riya slowly changed.

She started focusing on herself, her dreams, and her writing. The pain didn’t disappear completely, but it became softer with time.

One day, while cleaning her bookshelf, she found the old group photo from farewell.

She looked at it and smiled peacefully.

Not every love story needs a happy ending to be beautiful.

Some love stories remain special because they were silent, pure, and real. 😊
