The Sheriff Is Robbed

Robin hood had heard a lot about sheriffs greed and cruelty. He wanted to teach him a lesson. One day he went to the market in the guise of a butcher. He set up his stall and sold him meat for a low price to the poor, he gave it for free. All the other butchers thought that he must be very rich to do this.

After some time the others butchers told him that they were going to the sheriff's palace to dine with him. They invited him to accompany them and Robin was only too happy to oblige them. The butchers assembled in the guild hall. They introduced Robin to the sheriff as a rich butcher who didn't care much for money. The sheriff was very impressed.

While they were having dinner, Robin told the sheriff, "My brothers and I have about five hundred deer. But we have not been able to shell them". The sheriff decided to buy them cheaply from him and said, "I will buy the whole lot for three hundred pounds", Robin agreed. After dinner, Robin took the sheriff to sherwood forest. The sheriff was afraid that he would run into Robin hood but the 'butcher' reassured him that he would come to no harm.

Robin hood led the sheriff deep into the forest and them blew his bugle horn. At once they were surrounded by the rest of the gang. The sheriff realized that he was in the clutches of Robin hood and his outlaws. But Robin said,"Don't worry, sheriff. You are free to go after having dined with us". The sheriff knew what that meant. The outlaws had a peculiar habit of treating their rich guests to a feast and then robbing their money. And so the sheriff also partook of a grand feast after which little John took his money from his pursue. Then Robin said, "Next time you try to cheat some poor person, sheriff, remember this feast".
