In a small village, there was a temple. Miracles were believed to happen, so people from nearby villages visited it. Near the temple resided the priest. A mother with her four years old son stopped by the temple every day after drawing water from the adjacent well. One day the mother died of snakebite. After her last rites the son went to the temple and broke down, the priest overpowered by emotions asked the boy to pray humbly as God listens to sincere hearts. The little boy folded his hands and supplicated how he missed his mother and nobody would make his favorite sweet or sing lullabies for him. The next day the boy appeared again and told the priest his prayers didn't reach his mother. The priest said God had definitely heard as had kept some fruits and sweets in the sanctum for him. The boy readily grabbed them as well ran to his house.

A few days later the boy turned up at the temple and prayed his birthday was the next day no one was there to cook his favorite food. The priest assured him his mother was keeping an eye on him and as of now was busy in some work. The next day the boy got up did his morning chores, dressed in new clothes bought by the family and went to the temple. The priest was doing the temple rituals and asked him to come in the evening. The curious boy left and again appeared at dusk, priest came to him and gave him two small earthen vessels. The boy was spelled to find his favorite kheer and puri in it. He happily touched the priest's feet and went home.

A couple of months passed, the boy breezed in the temple again. This time he prayed that he was admitted to the school and was missing his mother way too much, as other kids will go accompanied by both parents. The priest turned up and gave him a banana before mentioning that his mother was busy so has sent the fruit as a token of love and has asked to be a goodboy as he is grown up now and make her proud. At the same time she will be keeping an eye on him from heaven and when ever he needs her can pray to god and she will get the message. The boy looked up in disbelief and enquired if the priest was actually speaking the truth. The priest laughed and said the priest always speaks the truth. The comforted boy returned home. Every time he felt his mother's absence went to the temple got something and made his way back home.

The priest was happy as he could cheer a motherless boy.
