The Lost
The Lost

Wrooom! Goes the air as the cyclists race down the hill and near the finish line. The Lead Racer Santiago was about to attain victory. Then the Red silk touched his chest and Santiago was the happiest man on the planet.
A few years ago Santiago's parents had acquired a bicycle for him. He immediately fell in love with it and invested all his time into it. He ventured around his block with his new bicycle and showed his friends too. Each day after coming back from school Santiago would throw his books down and start cycling. His parents seemed to understand how much he relished his bicycle and enrolled him in classes . Santiago was grateful to his parents for this and put his heart and soul into his lessons. Each day he would come back home excited and showed his parent how much he'd learnt.
One fine day after school Santiago was just strolling around the block when he saw a poster that caught his eye. He hopped of his bike and went to check it out. He was pleasantly surprised when he saw that the poster was advertising a cycling competition. He found a rack under the poster that had all the details and information regarding the competition. He rushed home excitedly and shoved the flyer under his parents' faces. They were caught by surprise and asked him what the flyer was. He explained how there is a cycling competition in Bogota and that he wanted to compete. His parents replied saying that if you improve and get better then we will take you.
So Santiago practiced like crazy and enhanced his skills briskly. A few days before the competition his parents came to his practice and were flabbergasted. Santiago had improved a lot and they decided to take him to Bogota. On the day of the competition, Santiago was Upbeat and ready to go. When he arrived he saw a huge crowd and they were all cheering for one person. Out of curiosity Santiago asked a spectator who he was cheering for and the spectator said Geal. Santiago did not know who Geal until he saw a board that said " Number 1 in South America ". Santiago was shell shocked and scared that he might lose. Even though he was scared Santiago tried to calm his nerves and do his best. Then the race started. Santiago did not care about anything but his cycle at that moment. Santiago looked back and saw no one. He was in the lead! The finish line was coming ever so close, then Santiago touched the red Silk and felt a surge of Joy.
Santiago kept on going to competitions and winning. From all of this he became ranked very high and got a chance to participate at the world Championships. On the day of the Competition, Santiago had a heavy breakfast and was ready to win. His parents dropped Santiago at the players' registration booth then went to find themselves a seat. Santiago registered himself then got on his cycle and waited for the race to start. The referee then blew his whistle indicating that the race was about to start. Santiago did his pre-game routine and awaited the green flag. Then it came, Santiago pedaled away as fast as he could. After a long gruelling 30 minutes Santiago saw the finish line in his sight and pushed as hard as he could. The ribbon wrapped around him then Santiago collapsed on the spot.
Santiago went from an unknown figure in the cycling world to a worldwide icon with determination and passion for the sport
