The Larger Egg
The Larger Egg
I was on a visit to my village on a short break from the routine stuff, leaving behind the targets the performances the parameters and all those misconceptual theories.
My room at my place was attached to the terrace with the mouth of windows opened to view the green fields. It was a real pleasure of peace to lay your head on the pillow with a book in your hand and tasting the outer green view as a pickle in the plate.
One fine morning I woke up around 6 am or so.. it was quite foggy outside also a bit colder than the regular temperature which we are used to being the city creatures... I went towards the window to explore my love affair with the early mornings..
What I saw next was something really unusual.. there was a tree adjoining my house where few branches were spread almost from the opposite side of my window.. on the "v" of the one of the branches there was a nest with 4 eggs. Three of those eggs were quite small but the 4th one was a bit larger than all the others.
I didn't understood why it was so.. I tried to have a closer look of it. That egg was completely different from the other three.. almost like an odd man out.. I decided to ask my granny about it. Granny explained me that only the three smaller eggs are the crow's eggs..
The fourth one is the cuckoo's egg. She always does this lays an egg in the crow's nest and then the crow hatches it assuming his own egg. Granny didn't explained me why the cuckoo does so but few things I realized that day about that process..
The baby cuckoo will always have that feeling of not being like the other siblings in the nest completely unaware of the fact about who she is and she doesn't belong to them..as she grows up she will be criticized on her every aspect from her voice to the choice.. because she is a different bird.
The important point is.... in the course of the time she will try to do those things which are not meant for her just to match up with those other crow's with whom she has been living. She will make numerous efforts of failure to be like them. She will face a lot of demotivation. She will be discouraged a lot.
And some fine day after a lot of suffering she will leave the nest and may find her mother who will completely resemble her and will answer all her questions. She will teach her their unique quality to sing and that will be the moment she will understand that she failed to become a complete crow not because she wasnt capable but because she never belonged to them.
She was never short of ability, strength, willingness. She was only heading towards wrong direction.
She was not the wrong egg but she was in the wrong nest. She was not the odd egg in the nest but she was the different egg in fact the....."LARGER EGG"
