The adventures Of Gillu

It would be a very bold statement to say but, I don’t think even the almighty would have a clear account of Gillu’s early life. With an account of all the information I have, I can only say that he was born in Muzaffarnagar, spent a few years of his puppyhood in that area only, and then came to Rajasthan with a civil engineer and spent a very happy summer in an oasis of a desert area in Jaisalmer.

One day, when no one was up and about, Gillu while doing his routine activities, like bringing the morning newspaper in the house from the main gate, saw a short dog of “toy dog breed” sitting on the lawn of the neighbor’s house. Gillu forced the punny fellow to realize what he thought of him for living on a lady’s lap and eating special cookies, but the little fellow lost his life in the process.

Honestly, Gillu did not have any kind of evil intentions to kill him or even hurt him a little; he only wanted to give a high five and handshake-the usual fun things that could not have hurt a mouse. No one was more surprised or shocked to some extent than Gillu when the little fellow fell down and did not move.

The lady showed extreme and uncontrollable emotions in this "Non-active Movement" and the civil engineer too easily concluded by looking at the dog and the intoxicating beauty of the lady that Gillu had Rabies. He decided to gun him down the next morning and dump his body in the jungle.

That evening a Marwari friend of a civil engineer, who did not “believe” in rabies, offered to take away Gillu.

Gillu stayed with this gentleman for some time and then transported to Jaipur, with the civil engineer’s friend’s brother, Ramu. And, trust me no dog could have wished for a better master.

Ramu and Gillu shared the same bed in Haweli. They went out together. The bond between them was so strong that Gillu was almost a member of the smashers Badminton club.

Every evening Gillu went there with his master, waited till Ramu settled down to a Good set, and then quickly slipped out and explored all the lanes in the gymkhana nearby.

There were gangs of brown dogs and black dogs of uncertain colors, used to peeing on every pole in every square and crossing to mark their territories and challenging all newcomers.

Gillu came out as the messiah for the other poor street dogs in this gang war. Our action hero bit and was bitten, tore and was torn, and after some time established his right to roam around the streets wherever and whenever he liked.

Gillu had to shed several mouthfuls of fur and sweat before getting honorable citizenship in those lanes.
