"The beauty of the mountains at Kasauli is mesmerizing!"

The words of praise flowed from Sanaya's mouth so instantaneously with a gleam in her eyes following after, clearly disproving the scientific fact of light travelling faster than sound. Not in a literal sense though.

I replied back that it was an understatement to just say that its mesmerizing. It's much more...The underlying quality of peace, the breathtaking landscapes, the sheer joy of watching sunrise with those highlighting blue mountains, that feeling of leaving everything materialistic after listening to chirping birds in the greenery, the coolness, the feeling of warmth when covered in those thick blankets while drinking some hot coco, list seems endless to me at least...

We were on a trip to Kasauli. It was not some typical summer vacation outing to meet some bunch of relatives. There was no back to school afterwards. Well, not some cliche road trip involved... Just three college girls in Kasauli who are best friends - Me, Sanaya and Naina. We were now adults! Yes, adults, with not a burden of school bag anymore.....which was replaced by the growing of tension of career, job opportunities, future and many more serious stuff to care about. We were pursuing undergrad in Economics. The three of us best friends had similar stories - Leaning towards English Literature, still doing Economics and passing each day of college with a warning of CAT exams approaching nearby........MBA goals are in almost every youth of today! We were studying in a top ranking college but not DU.

Trekking is the topmost activity to do here and hence we too packed some stuff and went ahead. The experience was awesome! We tried to capture the experience in a camera...but it was not as enchanting as the real experience itself. So, instead of focusing on camera, we focused on absorbing the experience within us. Naina reminded me something quite beautiful to note...

"The best scrapbook to collect memories is our mind. Eyes are camera lens. Ears are voice recorder. Plus, we have nose to smell and tongue to taste - an added advantage never found in technology!"

As we moved further, we realized that we forgot to bring enough food. And by the time we reached the destination, we were starving. A guy offered us sandwiches. I was skeptic to take help from a stranger. So I asked him to eat first. He did. We ate after him. It turned out from conversations, that Sanaya was actually his childhood pal.

Eating those sandwiches became one of the cherished moment. And that guy, one day, married his childhood pal - my best friend - Sanaya.
