Pumpkin Memories..

Dear Diary, 

Today my breakfast was cereals .. my way to prep is pour some milk in a bowl, heat up for a minute or so... add some cereals to it and enjoy :) Well yes, I never forget to top it with some pumpkin seeds...Ever tried? No.. give it a go !!

My love for pumpkin seeds is since childhood... Those were the days I would never forget :)...

We used to live in a cosy township..in a 4 bedded Bungalow with a beautiful front garden space and a spacious kitchen yard...Also, there was a single room with kitchen towards the end of the back yard, for our house help to reside:) To help my Mum, we had two house helpers one of them named Manvya, who was especially able!... She belonged to a nearby village to live with us and used to visit her home once in two weeks. Every time she did, she brought some exclusively authentic stuff for us on her return. When I say authentic, it used to be something like banana stem, a whole pumpkin, pumpkin flowers (yes they are edible!)...They were all organically grown by her family.

Uhm, and whenever it was pumpkin - I used to be excited as I loved to eat those seeds inside. Ha Ha! Hence, Manvya nad me used to gang up, get on to kitchen backyard.. she used to slice the pumpkin right at the middle and spilt it into halves .. I then would quickly sort those seeds out, out them to dry under the sun .. loved to sit right beside where they were laid and wait eagerly to have them once dry roasted.. Nostalgic .. a fond memory from my childhood!

Even now I love to have them and so I buy from the supermarkets, processed and packed .. but cannot beat the flavour of those fresh ones :D I top them on any variant of soups, bread toasts apart from a bowl of cereals.
