Opportunities in Life
Opportunities in Life
Once upon a time, there was a small village by a river. Everyone lived happily there. But, once, during the monsoon season it rained very heavily. The river started overflowing and flooded the entire village. Everyone panicked and were frightened. So, they started evacuating and set out to go to a safer place. One man came running to the temple and quickly told the priest, “the flood has started to enter our homes and soon, it will sink the entire village. You shall come with everyone else to the safer place. But the priest refused and instead told the man, “I know my God will come to rescue me. I have full faith in him. I will stay here at the temple and wait for my god and you must go on. And the man left.
Soon, the water reached the waist level. The priest climbed onto a desk. After a few minutes, a man came in a boat to save him. He said, “ I got to know from the villagers, that you are still stuck at the temple. Come, my man, don’t waste the time, We have got to save others too.” But the priest refused again, giving him the same reason. And so, the boatman left. The water level kept rising and soon, it reached the ceiling. The priest climbed to the top of the temple, chanting repeatedly for god to save him.
Soon, A helicopter came and they dropped a rope ladder for the priest to climb and get inside the helicopter, so that they could move him at a safer place. But the priest once again refused to leave the temple and gave him the same reason. So, the helicopter left too, searching for rescuing other people. At last, when the temple nearly submerged under the water, the priest kept his head up and started complaining. He moaned loudly, “oh lord, I worshiped you my entire life. I always kept faith in you. Why didn’t you came and save me!!”
Suddenly, God appeared in front of him with a smile, and he said, “oh, you foolish man, I came to you three times. I came running to you to ask you to leave for the safest place. I came with a boat, I came with a helicopter!! Now Is is it my fault, that you didn’t recognise me?” The priest hastened to apologise. He begged for forgiveness. And , so the god gave him one more chance to go to the safer place, which he accepted.
You see in life, God gives you many opportunities. But, you have to recognise the correct opportunity for you and grab it at the proper time.
