It was Sunday morning when my parents left for an important meet up in Gurgaon. They told me that they would be away for five hours or so. However they promised to return back early. Before leaving, my mom handed me the same set of instructions which she always gives, whenever she is away. Anyways, I heard the boring rules once again, like not to use the gas stove, not to open the door for anyone blah blah blah.......

Two hours passed and I was busy binge watching a Netflix series. When suddenly the phone rang, I picked up the receiver. Though I said “helooo!” several times, there was no response from the other side. So I nonchalantly declined the call. After, some time, the phone rang again, but this time someone asked if my parents were at home. When I inquired who was calling, the caller refused to speak and hung up the call.

After a while, the doorbell rang, DING- DONG. Ugh! I was annoyed now, why so much disturbance is there, while I watch TV! I was so lost in the TV, that I opened the front gate, while all my eyes were fixed on the television screen. After a few seconds, I came back to my senses, and found a tall- strange man, with a black mask to cover his face. And out of the blue, he started banging the door so loudly and aggressively. He yelled and urged me to open the main gate as well.

I started to panic now as I understood that his intentions were not good. I hesitantly called my parents. And fortunately they reached home with a police officer soon. The police officer caught the strange man, who was trying to break in the house through a window. After a research, we found that the man was a bandit and a kidnapper who has already kidnapped a few dozen children.

I regretted my mistake. I shouldn’t even have opened the front door. With such a highly dangerous criminal on loose, anything could have happened to me. I apologised to my parents, as I very well understood there motive of warning me every time they leave the home.

I understood that it’s always better to be safe then sorry!!
