My Friend's Girlfriend

Myself ,kishor, was on the door of the finest institute of technology in Rajasthan, where a bright future was waiting for me. Although I had completed my graduation and lived in the hostel, but that was entirely different as that was my home state, I was well aware of the culture and language there. But here it was slightly different, I was the first time outside my home state, more than 1400 km away from home, so I was little nervous when I was walking towards my hostel room. It was a two seater shared room which I had to share with some guy named Abhimanyu, whose name I had seen on the allotment list. With a heavy heart & thinking about my would-be roommate I reached at my room, the door was open it means Abhimanyu was already present there, a lean and thin guy, laying on the bed with books all around, seemed quite studious, at first look I found it a bit weird, I was thinking all these while he greeted me with the "Hi"

And I casually replied "Hi". I feel he smelled my nervousness and given me his full introduction that he was graduated from this institute and had topped the college in graduation, and if I need anything I can tell him as he knew the place very well. Abhimanyu was very cooperative, and jolly guy, I found it a bit crazy, as i was very introvert and i needed time to mix up with people, but it relaxed me a little as now I have a guy who knew this place already. Long railways journey and whole day rushing here and there for admission, I was feeling a bit tired so I went for a shower. On return from it i started unpacking my lugage as next day it was our first class, Abhimanyu helped me in unpacking my books and arranging them in self. As it was late , we rushed to the mess, actually he was waiting for me to have dinner as i was new there but unpacking things caused the delay. 

It was our first day in our class when I first met Mini, a short stature, curly-haired, fair girl. It was Abhimanyu who introduced me to Mini as they were classmates cum lovers from last 4 years. During general meet and greet the class was started. We trios became  best buddies, due to abhimanyu as he was the connecting link, we spent most of our time together in labs, project works, assignments. Thus we become familiar with each other, only then I came to know that mini's father is a big industrialist of our stream, and she belongs to a very rich family. That was the time when I smelled the opportunity of a good and safe future first time. A devilish thought creeped in my mind, what will happen if Mini come to me by leaving abhimanyu, and i started working on my thought. Although it was a wonderful idea but its implementation was rather very difficult or nearly impossible. But i wanted to take my chance and i started to find the shortcomings in their relation.

Abhimanyu was a good guy with a very jolly and helpful nature but he was very casual in term of his relationship and his conservative approach never allowed him to show his affection publicly. I decided to exploit this weakness of Abhimanyu, I started paying more attention on Mini, as i was abhimanyu's friend cum room mate, i was the closest to her after abhimanyu. When Abhimanyu remained  busy with his studies and projects, i started taking mini for outings, movies, dinners. Meanwhile i started filling mini's mind with negative thoughts about abhimanyu, that how casually he behaved with her, never pay any attention, he didn't care about her wishes and many more. My efforts worked, the seed of distrust started growing in her mind,  gradually they started quarrelling with each other and in spite of filling the gaps, I created more differences between them meanwhile I kept offering my shoulder to Mini for pile on.

It was Mini's birthday, she sent a message for Abhimanyu through me to meet her at a restaurant, as they were not talking to each other. It was my chance I didn't pass the message to Abhimanyu, and told him a wrong location, Abhimanyu was already hurt by this way of behaviour so he decided not to go to the party. Mini was expecting that atleast on the so special day abhimanyu will definitely come, but abhimanyu had his own reasons. She got very disappointed on this as Abhimanyu never missed her birthday since the last 4 years moreover he was always the first person to wish her, Abhimanyu's behaviour has broken her heart, she was crying badly, and that was my chance, I consoled her and indirectly proposed her that she had accepted later. 

First year was over I had changed my room, outside campus, I & mini was started living together as we decided to get married after completion of our courses. Abhimanyu was so depressed that he dropped out the college and we never met again. Sometimes i feel whether i did right or wrong , after all he had helped me in many ways in settling down there.
