Mother's Love

Underneath the calm eyes lay the quietness after the storm. With nothing to lose and nobody in sight, there was no presumption of return to the once so beautiful life Arundhati had.

There was no dream in her eyes for the future nor regret what had passed.

Her gaze could not fathom the degree of the outrageous vandalism nature had unfurled.

A muffled cry brought her back to the present time out of her reflection. She saw her baby who seemed lifeless till then, move a finger upward.

Her eyes brimmed with a profound joy inexpressible in words. She cuddled the little bundle to her bosom and nestled against his tiny cheeks. She stayed still for a long time basking under the warmth of her newfound hope.

She felt determined to stand against all odds that lay ahead. Her lips quivered and broke into a smile of gratitude to mother nature for keeping her angel safe amidst the horrendous storm.
