Mars Crash

"3,2,1 Launch!" yelled the speaker. Opal, an astronaut felt the rocket rumble. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath as the rocket left earth. A few minutes later she opened her eyes and looked out of the window, she saw earth and a pitch black sky with dots shining like diamonds. She looked at her team. Daisy and Barn were looking outside of their windows. "We shall start our course to Mars" said Barn proudly. Daisy took her seat belt off and flew to the control room. Barn and Opal followed her. She took the microphone and said "Sir, can you hear me? We are starting our course to Mars." Barn started to flip some levers to disable two parts of the ship. Opal took control of the rocket boosters to speed up the ship while Daisy was trying to get contact with earth. Few hours later the crew had their first space lunch and went back to work. Opal calculated how long the travel to Mars is and said "It will take about 6 to 9 months to reach Mars."

One month later, while Opal and Daisy were researching about Mars, the speaker suddenly yelled Opal and Daisy to come to the control room. There is a solar storm going to hit us. Both of them rushed to the control room and helped Barn to escape from the solar storm. After the solar storm, they were alright but the spacecraft was damaged. This made them to crash land on Mars. They put on their suits and stepped on Mars. Opal was the first followed by Daisy then Barn. Barn started to fix a camp for them and Opal was fixing the spacecraft with Daisy.

Two months later they had a scheduled track. Opal would wake up early to research about Mars and Barn will collect samples of the red planet's surface and then give it to daisy to analyze it. Opal found out at is was 70 degrees during day time and -100 degrees during night time. They also found out that there was life on Mars. One day while Barn was digging in the surface of Mars he found a gray powder. Another day Opal found different kinds of rocks.

Two years have past and they were ready to go home with lots of information about Mars. After launch they sailed smoothly through space and arrived at earth many months later. She, Daisy and Barn became famous and researched about the red planet even more! Opal always remembered Mars and to herself she asked questions about Mars. She wrote many books about Mars like The Red Mystery. She hoped in the future, children will read her story and want to go to Mars too. Opal still remembers about Mars and always keeps it close to her heart.
