Intoxication

Alcohol and drugs never really appealed to me. In fact, I didn’t really understand how it could be appealing to anyone, given their effects on one's mind and body.

But now as I stand here, alone, listening to the sound of your retreating footsteps, With memories playing make-believe in my head, that I truly understand the desperate need to not feel or think about anything for once, the burning desire to drink my mind into oblivion, drink, until the voices fade into nothingness. Drowning into one blissful sound of happiness that only intoxication can bring.
