Dwindling Memories

I had always seen people suffering from Alzheimer’s in movies, or have read in books, where people forget things. It sounded like a fancy disease and romantic, where the actress forgets her love interest and the time spent together. The actor tries his best to keep the memories fresh, plan a new day for his lover. He doesn’t get tired of doing cute little things on daily basis till their hair turn grey and skin starts getting loose.

Until one evening, when my grandmother didn’t return from her evening stroll.ll kinds of thoughts from bad to worse, crossed our senses. She was sitting under a tree, near the temple.

And from that day, things started going downhill, it was a gentle reminder that her days are numbered and the count down has begun. Her memory started dwindling and she was slowly drifting away from our lives.

We didn’t get the chance to recollect our times together and if I think from her side, she was all alone. She left alone, and the best part was she left without any emotions, without any strings attached, without any desire.

She had a smile when she passed away, it was painless for her. There was peace within her, which reflected on her face and that was comforting for us to cope with the situation.

Another fancy thing about this disease of dwindling memories.
