It was a regular day, boring as usual. We just sat with absolutely no work to do except study geography. I impatiently waited for the bell to ring so we could move on to the next class, which was Math. I’m as terrified of Math, as I am of aliens. We had to solve a couple of sums based on fractions. For me, fractions aren't as bad as algebra.

Then, I heard a loud CRASH! It sounded like a million sheets of glass shattering to pieces. My teacher rushed out to inspect and the rest of the class curiously followed after him. What I saw next was horrifying. Its face was almost distorted, its nose falling off and its eyes at the back of its head. What surprised me the most was that it didn’t have a mouth! Sadly and unfortunately I did not have time to process what exactly I was seeing. This was very unusual. The fat jelly adjusted its eyes using its abnormally huge hands which looked like human feet! And then, it saw me. Judging by its looks, It certainly wasn’t used to running around and chasing people.

I spotted a couple more of these green jelly things, capturing my friends and the principal as well! I was appalled and petrified and wondered why they weren’t terrified of the principal, like the rest of us. It was fascinating at the same time, but I was not too happy to see my best friend being dragged around by his leg. A very terrifying sight indeed.

I secretly followed the mysterious creature to a huge room filled with children, and teachers. The principal was quivering with fear and the gym teacher sat crouched in the corner whimpering. They all looked so scared. They were being held, as hostages. But I wasn’t scared of the aliens, I may have been short and may have looked timid. With all my courage, I said “w-what do you want?” No one heard me, of course. So again, I gathered all my courage, climbed up on a table and yelled with all my might, “WHAT DO YOU WANT?” Now here, I was very very confused. I cautiously waited and glanced at my principal who was trying to call out to me. I scurried over to him. He confided, “These creatures are extremely dangerous! My great-great-grandfather once encountered them. They are searching for the Phoenix.” “The Phoenix? What in the world is that!?” I asked. “It’s a book where whatever you draw comes to life. I think It’s needed on Earth as well as on other planets. But I’m sure the Earth needs it more.” “Where’s the book then?”It’s on the school library's third shelf in the third aisle. But why do you ask?” He questioned.

“I have a great idea, don’t you worry”. I replied. I hurried away trying to find my way to the library and well, I encountered an alien. That was bound to happen after all. I dodged it and punched it where its nose was supposed to be. UHOH, I panicked. My hand got stuck! I pulled and pulled and pulled. It wouldn’t budge. This was a very scary situation. I screamed for help. My math teacher who I wasn’t so fond of came to my aid. I guess she wasn’t so bad after all. She picked up a chair and BANG! Hit it on the alien's head, she then distracted the alien so I could escape. So, I went for it. I galloped all the way to the library like a horse. My feet pounded on the floor making loud THUDS. It took me almost no time to find the book, it looked so different! Very outstanding. I hurriedly made my way back to the hall. And thankfully this time, I wasn’t interrupted. I barged into the hall, all eyes were on me. I loudly announced, “The phoenix is with me, but we can’t give the book to you altogether so I came up with a fair idea”. “ Let’s split this book into two equal halves,” I said. The aliens looked at each other and nodded. I quickly tore the book in half and handed one of the halves to them, they accepted the book without any hesitation. They then started untying the hostages, releasing them and quickly started forming rows and lines. I watched them march back to their spaceship from afar. They soon left us with the mess as if nothing had happened. The next day, it was all over the news. How our school had been attacked and why? Interviewers and the media surrounded the principal, asking what he did with the book. To keep the book a secret, He said “ We simply destroyed it to prevent something like this from happening in the future”. “Oh” was all that they said, with disappointed looks on their faces. What bothered me the most was why did they not ever speak. Why didn’t they make any kind of noise? Was it that they didn’t want to or just couldn’t? This still remains a mystery to this day.
