A fairy tale
A fairy tale
One fine evening in a metro city, a young and pretty lady came into a restaurant. She gave an order to a waiter and was waiting for the order to be served. All of a sudden, her eyes fell on a young man, about twenty-five years old, who had just entered the restaurant and was looking for a chair to sit on. He was worried and sad. He found an empty chair at her table. He came to her table and sat on the chair. She looked at him and felt pity for him because his eyes were wet and his face was pale. He looked around and then looked at her for a moment and then took a glass of water and drank it. She was looking at him with curiosity. A waiter came and put a menu before him. He began to read the menu. His fingers were trembling. She was observing him. He ordered a cup of tea.
A waiter came and served thier orders. Sipping her tea, she said to him, "You are looking worried and sad. Could I help you?"
He looked at her and found compassion and consolation in her eyes. These were sufficient for him to tell her his problem. He replied, "I lost my job some weeks ago and I am still jobless."
Hearing this, she said, "So that's why you are worried." She said so as if she had not known what a job is.
Seeing this, he felt strange, but he needed someone to listen to him and console him, so he ignored her fault.
She continued, "May I know your name?"
He replied, "My name is Sunil, and yours?"
She replied, "I am Asha."
And they had a chat while having tea. It was drizzling when they came out of the restaurant. Sunil was feeling relaxed. She said to him, "I will pray to God for you to get a job soon."
He was impressed with her. A smile came on his face.
She said goodbye to him and entered a narrow street. He looked at her till she got beyond his eyesight.
And after two days, he passed an interview and got a job. He was so happy. And he got happier when he came across Asha in the same restaurant in the evening. He told her about his getting a job. She became happy hearing this and said, "I prayed to God for you to get a job."
And they talked for a long time. He was grateful to her for listening to him and praying to God for him.
Days were passing. One day, when returning home from the office, Sunil was hit by a car and got seriously injured. When he came round, he found himself swathed in bandages. His body was aching. He was alone. All of a sudden, someone entered the ward. He looked and found it was Asha. At that time, she was like an angel to him. Asha came to him and said, "Thank God, you came round from unconsciousness. Please tell me the address of any of your relatives. I will inform them."
Hearing this, Sunil got sad and said to her, "I don't have any relatives. I am an orphan and alone."
"I'm sorry," Asha said. And Asha began to look after him.
She looked after him as if he were a member of her family. He did not feel alone due to her presence. He was happy despite being in pain. For the first time in his life, he was feeling that someone was with him. He began to weave dreams.
After getting well, he was discharged from the hospital.
Sunil did not know how to thank Asha. He tried to know about Asha's life, but she didn't tell him.
And gradually, he fell in love with her.
And a time came when Sunil decided to express his emotions and love to Asha. Valentine's Day was around the corner. He chose Valentine's Day to express his love to Asha. He kept thinking all night about which words to use to express his love, what to wear, what gift to give her, and so on. In the morning, he was so excited that he missed his breakfast and hurried to a flower shop to buy a bouquet of roses and headed to the rented house of Asha. His heart was beating so fast. He knocked at the door with great hope. When Asha opened the door, he forgot all that he had thought about at night to say to Asha.
He murmured her name and said in a low voice, "This is for you."
She looked at the bouquet and then looked at him. He said, "Today is Valentine's Day." Saying so, he paused and then said, "I love you." Hearing this, she looked at him and said, "But I can't say so to you." His eyes got wet with tears. Sunil asked her, "Why?"
She replied, "I am not a human. I am a fairy and the fairies are not allowed to love humans."
Hearing this, Sunil said to her, "Don't pull my leg." Sunil was not ready to believe her. She said, "Believe me, I am serious. I am a fairy."
Sunil said to her, "If it is true, give me proof."
Asha said, "Here is proof." Saying so, she murmured something and became invisible to Sunil. Sunil was stunned and afraid at this and began to look around for Asha. He shouted in excitement, "Where are you, Asha?"
"I am here," Asha said. When he turned, he found Asha standing behind him.
Sunil said with amazement, "You are really a fairy." He paused for some moments and then said, "And that's why you are so good and kind."
She said, "I was curious to know about humans and their behavior. I lived among you humans and learned a lot about humans. My time is up, and I will have to go to my world."
Her eyes were wet, and she was sad. She said to him, "I will pray to God for you." And she waved her hand to him and said goodbye to him. The room began to fill with fog, and within moments the room filled with dense fog, and when the fog cleared, Sunil found Asha nowhere. She had gone to her world. Sunil believes that she will come again and He doesn't feel alone and sad.
