A Day Without My Mother
A Day Without My Mother
It was a winter Sunday morning, I woke up to a surprise that my mother had already left for the hospital as her labour pain had started at four o'clock in the morning. As soon as I woke up, I shouted, " Look, mother, I woke up so early today! " I said so because I woke up at seven o'clock in the morning for the first time by myself.
After saying so I heard one reply saying, "Your mother has already left for the hospital. " I realised that it was my aunt shouting from the kitchen.
It took me some time to understand that I will be without my mother for a whole day. I was excited because this was for the first time. I immediately got down from the bed. My aunt offered to help me get ready but I refused and got ready by myself.
Now I sat down on the sofa to watch some cartoons on the television as this time there was no one to stop me or restrict me. No one was there to force me to study as my aunt never scolded me.
But after some time I got bored and switched off the television and decided to do down and play. I played for almost four hours and came back home. It was almost two o'clock in the afternoon. I had my lunch and I was sitting idly.
I decided to play with my toys. After almost one hour off laying, I realised I had created a lot of mess in the entire house. Since my aunt had left for her office and the other family members were at the hospital I was alone at home, so I myself started cleaning the house.
It was definitely a tough task. When the cleaning was done I thought of doing my Christmas homework. It took me a long time to complete it as it was for the first time I did my homework without anyone's help. I realised it was seven o'clock in the evening. I had started missing my mother a lot. I was also getting scared as I was alone. I felt very lonely. I understood that the absence of my mother for a single day made my day incomplete. I missed her. Missed her from the bottom of my heart.
When I was lost in my thoughts the doorbell ring. I ran to open the door. It was my father, who immediately hugged me and said, " Now you are an elder sister to a baby brother. "
I was delighted to hear this news. Now that I was an elder sister I promised myself that I will never trouble my mother and help her in all possible ways. I will take care of my new baby brother and love him a lot.
My father then drove me to the hospital where I felt like I was seeing my mother after a long time. I ran towards her and hugged her tightly. She was sleeping on the hospital bed with a cradle beside the bed. My mother kissed me on my forehead and asked, "Did you miss me?" I was going to cry but I controlled my tears and said, " Yes, I missed you a lot! " She then pointed towards the cradle. I went and saw my baby brother for the first time. I was very happy and felt satisfied.
I can now say a day without my mother is a day without my soul.
