For a boy of nine, his birthday had brought immense gloom to his life as his parents had gifted him a dog instead of his repeated hints of a mobile phone. Any attempt from the cuddly creature was cold-shouldered by him but the determined creature, however, became his shadow.

One day like Mary’s little lamb it followed him to the fare. Different games, rides and other adventures took so much fancy of him that he forgot the time. Soon it was dark and the shadows elongated. The young boy, Rahul was petrified, having an impressionable mind he had imagined all the dramatic situations in his mind. Fear and guilt reigned over the boy and consequently, he couldn’t find the way back. Oh! the poor boy became apprehensive. The dog could sense his master’s anxiety and took the lead. Reluctant but helpless the boy followed him and reached home safely. Every step of the dog metamorphosed the boy’s hate to like and love and he thus concluded that his parents had gifted him his “best friend.”

Moral: Whatever parents do, they do it for their child’s betterment
