A BAD START

It was 6 o’clock in the morning when my mother told me to wake up otherwise she would Splash water on me. My sister was all set and helping my mom. At last, I woke before my mother could start praising Tia(my sister). My mother gave me some money to have food in canteen as she had burnt all the food(not again). My sister put water in my water bottle from the Old Jug (once again). I asked her whether she could give me some fresh water but she did not answer that question and I had to take water on my own at 7 a.m. When the bus arrived, my sister pushed me into the muddy puddle. I was looking hideous so I decided to stay at home. Thus, I had a bad start for the day.

The next day when I reached my classroom, my friend, Sam gave me the Breaking News. He told me that Mrs. Smith will give chocolates to everyone in the class and she told me to bring the bag of chocolates from the staff room(wow!!). I saw some students from the neighbouring class steal the chocolates(Oh No!). I informed Mrs. Smith that the chocolates were being stolen but when we all rushed, there was nobody but only chocolate wrappers lying here in there. It was highly disappointing but unfortunately, Mrs. Smith thought that I had eaten all the chocolates. She thought I was making up the story and took me to the principal’s office where my mother was called. I was suspended for no fault of mine.

At home my parents scolded me a lot. They decided to change my school. My father told me that he has found a new school where I would be going. My mother told me to be ready for the new school. The first day at new school was shocking. I saw teachers running from class to class. I entered my classroom and could not believe that students were laughing at the teacher and were calling her derogatory names. I decided not to react and sit quietly at first. I saw my classmate tearing every page of the book to make paper planes. When the school ended, I told my mom everything about that school but she did not pay any attention. The new beginning was a bit strange to me. It was Sunday morning and I was playing with my dog Bruno. All of a sudden I saw some children at the neighbouring park. I headed towards the park with Bruno.

Instead, I saw my classmates fighting with the property dealer in that area. I inquired about the matter. They told me that these property dealers were cutting trees to make new buildings. Rocky(the one who was making paper planes) the leader of all had called the police and told them about the incident. I was quite impressed that is this the same boy who was making paper planes. Rocky was mischievous but also smart. I had thought that they were poor and would not know anything but I was wrong and I learned that “you should never judge a book by its cover”. The next day, I went to school with a fresh mind. I became friendly with my classmates and I told them my story about the chocolates.

I also told them that even after having a bad start I am ready to make a fresh beginning. They also wanted to start fresh but they were sad that the teachers do not want to teach them and call them poor and backward. They wanted to play pranks on their teachers to teach them a lesson. I reasoned with them and made a promise to study hard for forthcoming exams. In this way, they can prove that they can study well. The next day we all went to the principal’s office and told her everything. The principal first did not believe us but later on agreed. She called the teacher and counseled her. She asked us to study for the exams. We studied very hard and all secured good marks in our annual examinations. But this is not the end of the story. We all earned a scholarship to San Francisco and we all went together to the San Francisco University to study and learn new things. So, always remember never to judge a book by its cover.
