WHAT I FAILED TO SEE
WHAT I FAILED TO SEE
I found a new light, and walked its glow,
Laughing, living — letting old feelings slow.
But little did I see the storm in your eyes,
A quiet hurt, beneath the skies.
I thought you were jealous — I thought you’d moved on,
But your silence whispered where I’d gone wrong.
You weren’t angry, just feeling unseen,
While I was lost between what’s old and what’s been.
I never meant to drift away,
Or make your heart ache in that way.
You were my anchor, through laughter and tears,
How could I forget our golden years?
When I read your poem — your words cut deep,
A wound I made, one I couldn’t keep.
If friendship’s fragile, I’ll hold it tight,
And never let darkness steal our light.
Two years, two hearts, two worlds — both dear to me,
I just hope someday, you’ll forgive and see:
Though paths may part, or time may bend,
You’ll always be my forever friend.
