Wabi-Sabi

Wabi-Sabi

Squished in the dark, damp corner,

Struggling to mush up tangled emotions

Into her tiny heart overflowing with tears,

She trembled to her feet.

It was only the Komorebi

At the base of her cloudy home,

Where she attempted to stay afar from darkness,

Which pierced through her heart softly forcing a giggle.

She stepped down to the rushing of the waves,

To retreat after a soft touch of welcome,

She wondered about the zillions of emotions these waters store,

Only to be interrupted by a swaying leaflet.

Rested on her shoulder,

The young leaflet tickled her

Making her smile yet once again,

And slip somehow gracefully into the smashing waves.

They raised as if waving,

Followed as if she was their comrade,

Allowed the fishes to play tag,

And shoved aside the dead seaweeds.

Diving deep,

She perceived the bitter truth of life,

No life is deprived of tears,

Even the ocean is salty,

But it was only here

The dimples of her cheeks could be seen

As if all the optimism, buried in these dark waters

Was echoing back and forth.

Is that what we call wabi-sabi of life?
