Through My Eyes

Through My Eyes

Oh what magic, does a forest hold?

That speaks to you,

To and through, your very soul.

Tales of danger, tales of lore,

Hansel and Gretel and so much more. Tales of beasts and tales of sprites,

Tales of little forest mites.

Here and there a villain too,

To scare the daylights out of you.

Perhaps one day while on a stroll,

Perchance, you meet a forest troll,

Waving his hammer straight at you,

You run and run 'till you turn blue.

Fret not, for on the other side,

Are fæ and elves, on their forest rides.

With magic in their very bones,

To save you from trolls and evil crones.

You may look, but can you see?

The forest in all her mystery.

You may look, but can you hear?

Can you trust beyond your fear?

For in the forest, in plainest sight,

Lie hiding, little woodland sprites,

The trees so tall, they reach up high,

Their tops hiding in the bluest, azure sky.

If you press your ears up to their bark,

You'll hear much more than a singing lark.

They'll tell you tales of kings and queens,

They'll tell you all the strangest things.

You never thought could ever exist,

Then they'll shroud you in their forest mist.

Come early morn your courage soars,

And you will want to definitely explore,

But when night falls, will you say the same?

The lion inside you will turn so tame.

Inside these walls of leaves and bark,

You are but a speck, the tiniest spark.

There are things inside here, greater than you,

There are things about here, older and true.

Never can a place to make one feel so small,

As when standing next to these trees so tall.

With their secrets, legends, mystery, and fear,

They push you out, yet draw you near.

Oh, what can a little human do?

In front of such age and wisdom too.

One can just stare and gape with awe,

And thank God for the majesty of forest law

And the order in the littlest things,

What fearful happiness a forest brings.

With glittering eyes, I stand in awe,

My soul winded, I cannot find a flaw.

This experience in my heart I'll hold

Until the Earth, doth I enfold.
