The Reach

Hands and Palms wide open to the sky

Hoping,

Waiting,

Praying,

Wanting,

Yearning,

Reaching,

For the hand to hold them.

For a love like the sun to shine upon them,

Enveloping and awakening the life confined in the tingling fingertips.

Have the stars I reach for abandoned me?

Forsaken Me?

Isolated Me?

Did they have the sky rain down

And flood my mind and soul with

Hopeless ideas of love?

My hands reach up and pause

But my life goes on ticking,

Is my time up?

I want a breath of love,

Breath of life back into

The broken pieces of my dreams.

I don’t want to be fixed,

But want to be gathered around,

In someone’s caring hands.

Hands who I have been waiting for,

Waiting since eternity.

Waiting, even if it is in vain,

Has to be better than settling for less than starlight

On clear summer nights.

Will I be waiting till skyfall?

I sit here with my hands and Palms wide open to the sky
