The Mirror

At the mirror, she stared,

At the depth of her eyes, she glared.

Her desires the silence brought,

“What has she become?” she thought.

Tears shed her eyes,

All along she trapped herself amongst the lies.

The beauty of her once jocund smile had faded,

As people’s perceptions had her mind invaded.

“You’re not pretty.” Her past cried,

She posed to be elegant, I swear her best she tried.

But along the way,

Her true self dwindles away!

And her spark she lost,

To win the sheer perspectives,

She could do anything, anything at any cost!

But now a sigh congealed her face,

She urged to commence a new phase,

As she stood in front of the mirror and gazed and gazed.
