The Gift
The Gift
Wrappers of innocence and naivety
Enveloped my significance, my nudity.
Delivered unto the world, from anonymity
My cries shattered the tranquillity.
In gratefulness, for their bounty,
My parents sang praises of the Divinity.
Long paths have I traversed ever since
Curiously chasing the wonders of the world, in sprints
The bliss of innocence dimmed; pubescence took hints
Passionately pursuing dreams and whims
Some of those trails, were they jinxed
A few paths of course were illuminated, by the wins.
I galloped valiantly, and at times, paraded patiently
Along the route came friends and family
Ravines and interludes, we navigated smoothly
Monsters and witches we fought dauntlessly
Tokens of love tendered endearingly
We basked in the glory of our legacy blissfully.
Dearest kinsfolk, may your lives be exalted
I am wearied; my senses have faded
I am satiated, as I have feasted
All I want, is to be rested
To the Almighty, for salvation I pleaded
As the gift of death eluded.
