The candlestick
The candlestick
There it lies, all alone in the dark
Unused and unkempt for sure,
It had been the witness of our childish meetings
In the dark, long time before.
On either side of it we stood
Looking eye to eye,
We exchanged many vows and promises
Death was a mere goodbye.
In late night calls, when you called me up
And wanted midnight hugs,
I used to sneak out carrying it
But now that memory bugs.
I used to stare at your candle-lit face
Not an inch did I move then
But now I just hide my tears
By standing in the rain.
You entered my life as an Easter wind
Ringing my hearts chime
And now those are only withered memories
Enough to spend a lifetime.
