The Bride
The Bride
There she was in her shimmering veil
Her alluring smell would my senses assail
Mum and Dad had chosen her for me
She looked as nervous, that I could see.
She looked beautiful in resplendent red
A bride she was today, everything that said
With bangles adorning her narrow wrists
Her fingers clutching the sari ends in a twist.
Gold, diamonds, rubies flowing down her slender neck
Looking at her, this goddess, I kept my desire in check
Fresh flowers trailed down the raven black, silken hair
Regal she looked, seated in the golden chair.
Our lives were to be forever entwined
This beauty, I would call forever mine
I felt blessed that god had been so kind
An invisible thread would together us bind.
