Surprise
Surprise
It comes as no surprise -
That religion has been
Infused in a situation
That does not discriminate.
That masses are
Falling for words of
Those mongering hate.
Different news channels
Spew different things.
Agendas still remain.
The VVIPs still think
They are infallible.
Babudom is the same.
The common man
Suffers and pays the price
Of smallest indiscretions.
While the bureaucrat
The untouchable god
Holds a wedding procession.
Doctors, nurses,
Anyone following rules
Is hurled stones at.
Rules are flouted
Lives are risked
In egotistical spats.
Fear is a business
Hate is a game
It comes as no surprise
That we remain the same.
Hypocrisy still rules.
We act like fools after
Money, religion, power
Our false gods.
Refusing to look at
The bigger picture.
Disbelieving the odds.
We feed on
Self-serving biases.
The hate, the divides.
Not understanding
That the earth
It is no longer on our side.
No. It comes as no surprise.
I wish it did.
