She Was Just

She Was Just

2 mins

She was just walking down a deserted lane,

How'd she know it was gonna end up in pain?

She was just late that one day,

For it was the last days of school and

for the first time, she took the shorter way.

She was just trying to reach on time,

I wish she knew that way was full of swine,

She wasn't alone, there were these alien faces too,

I wish they were humans enough, to help her through.

She was just 15 years old,

She was just 5 feet tall,

She was just beginning to know the world,

She was just trying to reach home fast.

A hand caught hers, and tried to pull her away,

Another hand, got hold of her bag and threw it away,

She screamed, she cried

Everyone looked, everyone sighed,

None moved a step, none moved a thigh,

Those tall men got even stronger and got away,

I wish a human lived in that alien lane.

She was just a little girl,

Trying to reach home in time,

She was just a little girl,

Who got pulled away, right in front of a crowded street,

Abused by those swine, abused by those freaks.

How is this country free?

While we are still surrounded by aliens and strays,

How is this country safe?

While small girls frequently get raped.

How is this even a society?

Where we want to be friends with strangers,

But not help an innocent one.

How is this even real?

When we have a sister or a daughter of the very same age,

Waiting for us to come home,

While we watch someone else's dragged away,

Who was just trying to reach home,

Instead of ending up with just a name on the tombstone.
