She didn't give up her chase
She didn't give up her chase
When she was just about to turn one,
Her tiny feet already wanted to run
One attempt, and she fell flat on her face
Hurt as hell, but she did not give up her chase
She got up countless times and after several falls,
She conquered walking like the little champ she was
When she was five, she had a nasty fall
Broken leg, doubtful of ever walking at all,
Bed-ridden at home for numerous days
Weak as hell, but she did not give up her chase
She was back in action sooner than anyone could imagine
A fighter she was, but this was just the beginning
When she was ten, the real challenges had begun,
Speaking in public, for her was never fun
Pushed on to stage, into the huge audience she gazed
Nervous as hell, but she did not give up her chase
With unshaken confidence, she delivered the perfect speech,
She learnt that when fears are forgotten, nothing was out of reach
When she was fifteen, social validation was all that mattered
Peer pressure was at its peak, her self-esteem shattered
Rejection came a lot, she had lost the popularity race
Heartbroken as hell, but she did not give up her chase
She focused on her academics and with hard work she would shine
She learnt that popularity did not matter if her goals were defined
When she was twenty, reiterating her decisions she had begun
Were the last few years a really bad decision?
Losing interest her field, she was completely out of place
Confused as hell, but she did not give up her chase
She found her calling, worked hard and reached there too
Success would now follow, only it was too good to be true
As she turns twenty-five, she sits down and starts pondering,
“Where did I go wrong while all my peers are prospering?
Unsettled, unstable, undecided or just unlucky am I?
Girdled with self-doubt, my dreams are almost about to die”
Just as she was about to raise the white flag and quit,
A moment of epiphany was with what she was hit!
As she went down her memory lane, she began to realize
With all the battles she had won and storms she had survived,
She was no quitter, a warrior she was,
She only had to regain the faith she had lost
She looked into the mirror and to herself she said, “Darling, hang on,
You may have not won the sprint, but life is a marathon
So go out there and fight like the warrior princess you are,
Cross all the hurdles and conquer your dreams like a rockstar.”
Of course, the future is uncertain. Heartbreaks, she still may have to face.
But some day, legend will say, “….but she did not give up her chase”
