Shadows of Thirst

Shadows of Thirst

In the land where the sun often shines,

The earth cracks and the dirt declines.

The sky bleeds its hue of blue,

The clouds find a space to renew.

Drought has come with its fiery rays,

Leaving us in a daze for days and days.

The rivers and lakes now run dry,

In the midst of the land we often ply.

The plants and trees struggle to survive,

The strong winds make them twist and strive.

No longer do they offer us their fruits,

The land now offers no prayer or roots.

The land where once lush green forests grew,

Now offers us a view that seems so new.

The land so bare and dry like hair,

The farmer now looks hopeless in despair.

The sun that once had sizzled with glee,

Now strikes the land with a less timely degree.

The drought has left its mark,

Leaving the land naked and dark.

The summers that once were a joy to live in,

Now turns out to be despair and giving.

We pray for the clouds to come,

With the raindrops that can act as a charm.

For when the dry times come and go,

We know that we must stand and grow.

We'll wait for that rain and its drops,

To fill our hearts with the love that never stops.
